Why are DISASTERS on an increase?

  • Economic Effects – Even a small storm can cause considerable damage to the infrastructure, thus adding to the economic woes.
  • Indirect Repercussions – During natural disasters, Medical facilities slow down, Markets and businesses are shut down and People have to resettle.

  • Recovery – Activities after a disaster. This includes Resettling the affected communities.
  • Mitigation – Activities in general to reduce disasters. This includes planting shelter belts, embankments, check dams etc.
